Hello everyone!! Today we are mixing it up a bit. You will need to read two different newspaper articles before your comment on the blog today. You have the option of printing the articles out and reading them or reading them on the computer:
Step 1: Read this article about Chuck Turner, a Boston politician who has been arrested for bribery (taking money from people so that he will vote to help them). Step 2: Read this editorial about Chuck Turner by a man who Chuck Turner helped out. http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/03/01/rallying_around_their_man/
Step 3: In the comments section of this blog, share your ideas about Chuck Turner. Do you think he should go to jail? Should he still be allowed to be on the city council? What parts of the different articles made you think they way you do? To get credit your response must be at least 150 words.

uhmm...i think that he should be removed from the seat if he is guilty but i dont think its that serious for him to go to jail. its the recession, people are poor these days.
ReplyDeletei don't think it is that big of a deal to go to jail. if he goes he goes if he don't then leave the man alone.i can understand if he did something like this in the past but it's one mess up. ever heard of three strikes your out...well he has one so whats the problem
ReplyDeleteI think that man should qo to jail . i think he should qo to jail because he accepted a bribe . we ALL know by code of law that bribes are illeqal . if Chuck Turner was serious about his job , he would of never accepted the bribe . The thinq that qets me mad the most is the fact that he accepted the bribe , and then has the nerve to lie to the feds , and expects not to qet cauqht . i mean we all know some people can qet cauqht up and be stupid sometimes , but this quy is at the TOP of the list . well to concludee , i think he should be lockedd up , because he lied to FBI officials , and he felt kind of cocky in court , KNOWING he took an illeqal bribe and neqlected it in court . If i were the judqe , i wouldnt qive him a bond or a bail , because this quy should learn NOT to liee , and NOT to take bribes by servinq sometime in jail .
ReplyDeleteI think that Chuck Turner should be sent to jail because, he know what he did was wrong.Beacuse, he accepted bribe. I dont think he shouldn't be alowed to be as Boston City Council, accepting bribe is a bad thing mister. This person is a Boston City Council. This person is stupid. That's all i got to say.

the other article that i read, i really dont care about what happen what so ever. And that i have feelings about what happen. i dont have feelings for this such person. if he was best known then i would have cared. but really i dont.
Well I believe that Chuck Turner SHOULD NOT BE on the city council because he was wrong

He was wrong also because he knew and the people that were giving him the money knew that bribes were illegal. And he should go to jail because if someone gets charge with bribing he should to. “Everyone should be treated equally.” And I also believe that this is some what races because white people do take bribes and no one hears about it. But what they did was not right so they have two suffer for it.” Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.” But if he did it he should go to jail and get fired of the city council.
this is really annying because i wrote 120 words of stuff and i lost it all... so i am not writing anything on this because i am annoyed anf rustrated.... basically he should not be on council for doing somthing illegal where he represents boston in a bad way!
ReplyDeleteI think that this guy is guilty because they got pictures of him accepting a bribe. I am glad that the FBI found this guy because all he is doing is corrupting our community. The FBI should keep trying to find more people like this because I know that they are lots more like him, this is not only in the Boston city hall this happens a lot everywhere. I think that this is a very dirty way of getting money; they are doing wrong things just for money. This matters to me because I don’t like when people corrupt the community I live on and because is not fair that he is giving people right when he is not suppose to. I want a person that is loyal to run the city of Boston, a person that wont do this kind of things this man is doing.
ReplyDeleteI think that the guy is guilty. If there are pictures as proof that he was accepting the money then it must be true. It doesn’t matter what he has done in the past because even if he donated all of his money to charity he is still not a perfect angel. Then this whole contradiction about the FBI targeting the African American race is complete BS because the FBI wouldn’t be wasting their time on this if they didn’t have hard evidence that the man was guilty. I do not mean to sound racist or anything but it seems that when an African American is arrested, it is more times than not said that it is discrimination as a way to convince the jury that they are innocent.
